Autumn in New England

new-england-2

Dates: 10/3/2019 to 10/12/2019

Trip Details

The red-, orange- and gold-colored leaves of autumn in New England delight visitors from around the world with a dramatic explosion of color. Much of the color is from native sugar maples; only a few other places in the world have such dense and perfect concentrations of these maples.

Boston’s history is America’s history. We will tour the historic neighborhoods and walk the famous Freedom Trail.

We’ll travel to Cambridge, Lexington and Concord to hear the tale of the American Revolution. In southern Maine, we’ll visit Kennebunkport (President Bush’s estate), Freeport (home to the famous L.L. Bean company), Bath (Maritime Museum), Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and Newry’s Sunday River Covered Bridge.

In New Hampshire, we will take the aerial tram ride in White Mountain National Park to see the flaming red maples, golden birch and maroon northern red oaks. Our "Made in Vermont" day will delight us with visits to the Cabot Creamery, Morse Sugar Farm and Cold Hollow Cider Mill. Additional highlights include the Rock of Ages Granite Quarry, (the world’s largest deep hole granite quarry), Quechee Gorge, (Vermont’s Grand Canyon), a morning cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee and a ride on the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad Turkey Dinner train.
