Lunch and Learn With NIU Professor Victor Gensini: "Tornadoes - Past, Present and Future"
Wed., Sept. 26
Join the Department of Geographic and Atmospheric Sciences at NIU. His research focuses on extreme weather (tornadoes, hail, heavy rain, heat waves) and climate variability.
Gensini recently gained national media attention for his research predicting the likelihood of tornadoes, and he will share some of that research during his presentation. He has also been named co-principal investigator (along with NIU professor Walker Ashley) on a National Science Foundation grant to track historically large thunderstorm complexes and try to understand how storms may change in the future under potential climate change scenarios.
Doors will open at 11:45 a.m. and Gensini will talk to guests from 12:15 to 12:40 p.m. A short question and answer session will follow.
The presentation is free and boxed lunches will be provided as an option for $10 with a choice of sandwiches, chips and cookies. Bottled water and assorted soft drinks will be available.
Registration (below) is required. Space is very limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
