“Frank Lloyd Wright Meets 16th Century Japan”: Private Architectural Tour - will be rescheduled, date TBA

Explore two of Rockford’s architectural gems on this docent-led tour, available to NIU alumni and friends only. Guests will be granted exclusive access to Anderson Japanese Gardens 16th century Sukiya-style Guest House and the Laurent House, the only home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright specifically for a client with a physical disability. 


The cost for this event is $55 per person and includes just the home tours and bus transportation. For guests who would like to have lunch first, a reservation for NIU alumni has been made at Fresco at the Gardens from Noon – 1 p.m. All guests will pay for their own lunch. Please contact Amy Ogden at aogden@niu.edu, or 815-753-1449, if you are planning on having lunch at Fresco at the Gardens.


The first tour will start at 1 p.m. at Anderson Japanese Gardens. Guest will then travel to the Laurent House, which is located about three miles from Anderson Japanese Gardens, for the second tour. Each tour is approximately two hours long. Visitors to the Guest House must remove their shoes upon entering. Please wear socks in order to participate in the Guest House tour. The Guest House is not disabled-accessible.
