Calling all chefs... Join Dr. Chris McCord, senior advisor to the vice president, administration & finance as he prepares a delicious Indian dinner step by step. Dr. McCord will be preparing hot & sour parsi shrimp with rice and chutney.

Recipes for items being made will be sent out in advance if you would like to cook along.

Dr. McCord served as dean, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and acting executive vice president & provost prior to becoming senior advisor at NIU.

In his 10 years as dean, McCord led the creation of the University’s first interdisciplinary degree programs, integrated student engagement and community engagement into the college’s mission, formed three interdisciplinary centers, and grown international engagement.

McCord earned his bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and physics from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  His work as a mathematician explored the interplay between geometry and differential equations, with a particular focus on the impact of geometry on the “N-Body Problem”—the movement of particles under their mutual attraction as described by classical Newtonian mechanics.
