STEM Café—Simply Fun: Memorable, Minimal Holidays

Join us from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Fireside Grille in Sugar Grove, Illinois, for the next STEM Café—Simply Fun: Memorable, Minimal Holidays.

The holidays can be overwhelming and expensive. It’s easy to get caught up in an unsustainable cycle of too much eating and too much shopping, and to lose sight of what really matters – having fun and connecting with friends and family.

For several years, sustainability expert and NIU Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences Bob Brinkmann has been sharing sustainability challenges to help people approach cooking, eating, entertaining and gift-giving in greener, more sustainable ways. At this STEM Café, he’ll provide tips for simplifying your holidays and building a sustainability mindset, helping to reconnect with the simple joys of this time of year.

Northern Illinois University STEM Cafés are part of NIU STEAM and are designed to increase public awareness of the critical role that STEM fields play in our everyday lives. They are offered in partnership with the NIU Alumni Association and made possible with support from Thermo Fisher Scientific and Bayer Fund.
