December 1st, 2017

Citing his dedication and strong business acumen, Crain’s Chicago Business has named UniCarriers Americas Corp. President James J. Radous III to its 50@50+ list.

The distinction honors individuals who are at or above 50 years of age and who have made outstanding contributions to their companies and their communities.

Appointed as president of UCA by the UniCarriers Corp. board of directors, in Kawasaki, Japan, in January 2016, Radous joined UCA in 2009 as VP of sales and marketing operations and was named to the newly created role of executive vice president, Sales – Americas, in 2013. Radous led revenue generation in the key areas of business development and aftermarket, growing UCA to a top-tier supplier of material handling equipment, increasing the company’s footprint in South America, establishing UCA’s formal entity in Brazil (UCSA), leading aftermarket expansion across the Americas, orchestrating multiple mergers and acquisitions and transforming the culture through numerous conversions. Just recently, UCA celebrated its largest month in unit sales and production. The company has four worldwide manufacturing plants, including one in Marengo, Illinois.

In addition to his notable business contributions as president, Radous has sought to create a more personal atmosphere for his employees, including weekly “Java with Jim” sessions, which allow employees to enjoy coffee and share their thoughts on the business.

As an active community advocate, Radous supports local Marengo initiatives and has led in the creation of hundreds of local jobs. He also proudly contributes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Boy Scouts of America and mentors business students at Northern Illinois University and Roosevelt University, where he received his master’s degree in business administration.

“I’m both grateful and incredibly humbled by this distinction,” Radous said. “To succeed in business, you must love the industry you work in, the people you work with and the company you work for. I can proudly say, without reservation, that I truly love what I do. And when I look at a company like UniCarriers Americas, I see an opportunity to make a lasting contribution in an industry I’m very passionate about.”

Illinois honorees of 50@50+ were nominated by their peers and selected by AARP Illinois for their work in the following five categories: nonprofit, arts and culture, business, community building and disruption.
