The Presidential Election Nomination Process: Does It Make Sense?

As the presidential nomination season kicks into high gear, many Americans are confused by the process. What is the difference between a primary and a caucus? What is a delegate and how are they allocated? Is this really the best way to determine a political party’s nominee?

Join fellow NIU alumni and friends from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, for lunch at Redsauce American to hear from Matt Streb, political science professor and the author of "Rethinking American Electoral Democracy," as he answers these questions and more!

Streb is a professor of political science and the chief strategy officer/liaison to the Board of Trustees at NIU. His research examines voting, elections and public opinion. His research has been featured in C-SPAN’s Washington Journal and has been mentioned in such places as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Times, Washington Monthly, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. In 2009, Streb was recognized by the NIU Foundation for "Faculty Excellence."
