Horses, Hats and Stats - CANCELED
Tuesday, April 2
Get ready for a whirlwind of excitement, Huskies, because "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports" is galloping your way! May 4 marks the 150th "Run for the Roses" at the Kentucky Derby. But before you don your most dazzling fascinator, sip on a mint julep or wager a bet, let's get you up to speed on the thrilling world of odds and statistics in horse racing.
Join your fellow Huskies and guest speaker Dr. Alan Polansky, chair and associate professor in the NIU Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center for "Horses, Hats and Stats." Polansky is a probability expert who has spent much of their career talking about odds to non-mathematical audiences. They will provide insight into how betting on horse racing and statistics works.
Attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary non-alcoholic Derby-themed drink with each registration. Advanced registration is $10, walk-ins are $15.
All sales are final. No refunds.
