NIU Advocacy Day

Thank you for your interest in Advocacy Day! Advocacy Day will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. in Springfield.

We need your voice during this important day of Huskie Pride. Your participation will show our state legislators that NIU is so crucial to Illinois that our alumni, friends and students are willing to travel to our state capital.

Be prepared for a full day at the Illinois State Capitol campus! Each volunteer is assigned to a team of three or four Huskies. Teams are selected by current residence and/or relationship with a legislator. Each team is provided with a schedule that includes two to three legislator meetings based on their availability during a busy legislative session.

We are excited to take as many Huskies with us as possible, but space is limited, so please register soon. To get your Advocacy Day t-shirt, register by Feb. 14. Registration will officially close at the end of the day on Monday, Feb. 17.
 

Hotel Block Information

For staff/faculty, alumni or friend volunteers planning to stay overnight after the event, we have reserved a limited block of rooms at Hilton Garden Inn, 3100 S. Dirksen Pkwy, Springfield, IL 62703.

While still available, volunteers may reserve a room within the block and are responsible for the cost of their stay. It is first-come, first-serve for the room block. If needed, please sign up on the link here. The rate is $124 per night which comes with a complimentary breakfast voucher.
