Huskies Night Out - Frankenstein Unbound
Friday, October 10
Whether you come by yourself or bring a date, a friend, or a group of friends, you'll enjoy mingling and meeting others at Huskies Night Out! The NIU Alumni Association, University Libraries and the Department of English invite you to an evening of Frankenstein-themed fun.
Join us for a plated dinner at Ellington’s Restaurant in the Holmes Student Center on Friday, October 10, at 5:30 p.m. followed by an exploration of NIU's rare copy of the 1831 edition of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the first illustrated and widely accessible version of the novel.
We'll also consider why Shelley's timeless tale continues to raise important questions about the ethics of technology in today's tech-driven environment. Afterwards, we'll head to NIU's new BookLab to recreate the title page of Shelley's 'hideous progeny' and engage in other 'monstrous' activities. These activities include a behind the scenes tour of special collections, a related exhibit and more!
