Support the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies

The Center for Latino and Latin American Studies serves as the home for the interdisciplinary study of the history and culture of Latin America as well as Latinx experiences in the United States.  We offer a minor in Latino and Latin American Studies as well as academic and cultural programming and research opportunities. We provide students with many unique opportunities to get involved and make the most of their time as Huskies. Students can conduct research through the NIU Latinx Oral History Project, which records and makes more visible the experiences of Latinxs in the Midwest, or the Voices of a Pandemic Oral History Project, which centers on Latinxs impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. We also connect students to scholarship resources, host guest speakers from universities across the United States, and regularly sponsor cultural and community events. 

Your gift to the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies will support:

• Student researchers who will work one-on-one and in teams with NIU faculty and staff
• Expansion of the NIU Latinx Oral History Project, particularly the development of an interactive website
• Our partnership in the Voices of a Pandemic Oral History Project
• Invited lectures and workshops with distinguished scholars from across the United States
• Our annual conference, Treinta y Tres, which features the research and artistry of NIU faculty and students
